Description
Blood Collection Needle, Multi-sample
A multi-sample blood collection needle is a sterile, double-ended medical device designed to collect multiple blood specimens from a single venipuncture. It is primarily used with vacuum collection tubes and a dedicated needle holder.
Product Overview
- Design: Features a “pen-type” double-ended structure. One end is for vein penetration, and the other is a shorter needle covered by a rubber sleeve that punctures the collection tube’s stopper.
- Material: Constructed from high-quality, medical-grade austenitic stainless steel. Many models are silicone-coated to ensure a smooth, low-friction entry.
- Mechanism: The integrated rubber sleeve acts as a valve, automatically sealing the needle when a tube is removed to prevent blood from leaking into the holder between samples.
Specifications:
- Bevel Design: Typically features a triple-beveled or low-angle tip to reduce tissue trauma and patient discomfort.
- Thin-Wall Technology: Designed with thin walls to provide a larger inner diameter, which increases flow rate and reduces the risk of hemolysis (rupturing of red blood cells).
- Color-Coded Hubs: Hubs and caps are color-coded according to ISO standards for rapid gauge identification (e.g., 20G is often yellow, 21G is green, and 22G is black).
- Sterility: Each needle is individually packaged in a sterile blister pack or with a tamper-evident seal, sterilized using Ethylene Oxide (EO).
- Sizes: Commonly available in 1-inch and 1.5-inch lengths, with gauges ranging from 18G to 22G.
